Responsibilities
* Under direct supervision, assists the Pharmacists in processing medication orders for inpatients that require special handling.
* Reads and transcribes prescription orders, prepares and packages chemotherapy and other special medications, and maintains records of medications dispensed.
* The technician has expertise in the safe handling and use of chemotherapeutic and other agents which require special handling or preparation procedures.
* Prior authorization of infusion services provided by HFHS
* Management of inventory
* Compounding of chemotherapy
* Assisting pharmacists complete other technical tasks
Located at the Josephine Ford Cancer Institute (JFCI).
Qualifications
* Requires a high school diploma or GED.
* Ability to maintain records and perform calculations.
* Requires a minimum of 2 years experience as a Hospital Pharmacy Technician, performing all functions required of a Hospital Pharmacy Technician.
* State of Michigan licensure as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
* Must have experience in prior authorization and chemotherapy inventory management/compounding.
