Responsibilities
EPIDEMIOLOGIST- HENRY FORD HEALTH SYSTEM

A senior staff position for an epidemiologist at the assistant professor level is open immediately in the Department of Public Health Sciences or the Henry Ford Health System (HFHS). The successful applicant will become part of a group of Epidemiologists and Biostatisticians involved in population research funded on both the intramural and extramural level. In addition to the professional research staff, the department includes support staff with expertise in computer programming, data management, medical record abstracting and interviewing. The department is part of the Henry Ford Medical Group and interacts closely with a large number of physician investigators as well as basic science researchers.

The HFHS serves an ethnically diverse population of approximately 1 million people in southeastern Michigan. Epidemiologic researchers have access to computerized databases that include population demographics, visit and procedure information, pharmacy claims, and pathology and lab results. Epidemiologic research opportunities are available in a wide range of disease areas, but particularly in our designated areas of excellence which include respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, women's health, immune-related diseases, patient centered outcomes research (PCOR), bone and joint diseases and cancer.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in epidemiology or a related field and demonstrate an ability to obtain independent extramural funding. Scientists with R01 funding at HFHS receive full salary support and additional discretionary funds from the institution. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
